The OPPO A79 5G has been formally introduced in the Indian market as the brand’s newest mid-range 5G smartphone, succeeding the OPPO A78. This device features a centrally positioned punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for enhanced security, an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, and dual circular enclosures to accommodate the rear-camera sensors. Powering the OPPO A79 is the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset, which ensures optimal performance and connectivity capabilities.
The OPPO A79 5G features a 6.72-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. It offers a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz refresh rate, an impressive 180Hz touch sampling rate, up to 680 nits peak brightness, and a centrally positioned punch-hole cutout for the front-facing camera.
This device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6020 chipset, built on a 7nm process technology, and it is accompanied by the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU for efficient graphics performance.
The chipset is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and boasts 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage, with the additional flexibility of expandable storage via a microSD card.
OPPO A79 5G runs on Android 13, overlaid with the ColorOS 13.1 user interface.
For photography, the OPPO A79 is equipped with a 50MP primary camera featuring an f/1.8 aperture, complemented by a 2MP portrait sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and an LED flash.
For selfies it has an 8MP front-facing camera.
This smartphone includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for enhanced security, stereo speakers for an immersive audio experience, and an IP54 rating, providing protection against dust and water ingress.
To ensure extended usage, the device is equipped with a robust 5,000mAh battery and supports 33W SuperVOOC fast charging for rapid replenishment of the battery.
